Pinellas County Property Tax Rates

Most people will agree that buying a home is one of the BIGGEST investments they'll ever make. Like any investment, real estate comes with long term costs that need to be considered and budgeted for over time, such as insurance and property taxes. While homeowner's insurance rates can fluctuate from property to property, one thing we can predict is property taxes, based on the local rates released by each city annually. This information is important to know BEFORE you purchase a home.

To make things simpler for you, we've collected the latest property tax rates in Pinellas County, FL and listed them below. The results might surprise you, but can help you save money when shopping for a home. In some cities, the millage rates (aka property tax rates) are 174% higher than others, even though they’re just minutes away from one another. That can add up on your annual property tax bill and drive up your monthly housing costs over time.

In Pinellas County, property taxes are paid in arrears, meaning the bill you pay at the beginning of 2022 is based on the value and millage rate for 2021. 'Trim Notices' with the proposed tax rates for the current calendar year are mailed out every year in August by Pinellas County. The TRIM notice (it stands for 'Truth in Millage') explains how your property taxes will be calculated, the proposed millage rate for your city and shows taxable values for your home for the current year and past years. The final tax bills are mailed out by November 1st
