Dreaming of living by the beach, soaking up the Florida sunshine and finding paradise? If so, then you're in luck! We're sharing the Top 10 Reasons for moving to Pinellas County and the Greater Tampa Bay area of Florida.

Fact: If you make the move to Florida, the only thing you'll be shoveling in the winter is white, sugary sand from the Pinellas County Beaches...

Thinking of a move to Florida? Check out our list below for some great reasons people are moving to the Sunshine State everyday!

  1. Low Taxes (AS IN NO STATE INCOME TAX!)- We listed this as our first item, because as a former resident of the San Francisco Bay Area and Washington, DC area, I personally know that state income taxes outside of the Sunshine State can be as high as 13.3%. In Florida, we currently do not have any state income taxes! (aka get an instant pay raise if you move here with the same salary as you were getting in a state WITH a state income tax)

  2. The Beaches- We all know what Florida is really known for- miles and miles of seemingly endless, white sandy beaches and turquoise water for miles. In Tampa Bay, namely Pinellas County, you’ll find some of the highest rated beaches in the country. St. Pete Beach and Clearwater Beach have won numerous awards, and are both great swimming beaches, full of great eateries and local outdoor activities. Don't forget hidden gems like Indian Rocks Beach, Madeira Beach and Redington Beach either. If you love beaches, we have one for you!Search Clearwater Beach Homes Now

  3. Sports Galore- Our area isn't called "Champa Bay" for nothing...Tampa Bay is home to some of the greatest sports teams in the country! The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Super Bowl Champs!), Tampa Bay Lightning (Stanley Cup Champs in 2020 and 2021), and the Tampa Bay Rays (Went to the World Series in 2020) are just a few of the major league teams in the area to keep you entertained. The City of St Petersburg also hosts its very own Grand Prix races annually as well. And don’t forget our award-winning and abundant selection of beautiful Florida Golf Courses and posh Country Clubs (Have you seen the Belleair Country Club? Or the Innisbrook Golf Resort in Palm Harbor?). Additionally, thanks to our great weather, it’s not uncommon for St. Petersburg, the Gulf Beaches, Clearwater, and other surrounding areas of Tampa Bay to host multiple outdoor events each year including (but not limited to) various marathons, triathlons, and bike races. Take your pick! Yes, We Have The Lightning Hockey Team!

  4. Tropical Weather (It's Pretty Much Year Round)- Many locals of the Tampa Bay area will tell you that one of the best parts of picking up and moving here was escaping any chance of snow, sleet or extreme cold weather. So take your ice scrapers and toss em’ out before you get here! The only thing we have that’s 2 feet deep in this town is the white, powdery sand at our beaches. In fact, last year, we had 244 days of sun in our state!

  5. Waterfront homes- Waterfront homes are still one of the ultimate perks of living in Tampa Bay, thanks to the FABULOUS BOATING WATER in the Gulf of Mexico, Tampa Bay, and the Intracoastal Waterway to name a few. Pinellas County offers many waterfront homes for sale in a variety of price points. Want to step up your luxury home game? Then a Gulf Front home, directly on the white sandy beaches, overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, is the true definition of luxury living in this area. Let's be real, it’s rare that we ever get a client that tells us they wouldn’t enjoy being just steps from the sand or waking up to views of fantastic boating water.Search Waterfront Homes Now...

  6. Jobs- As of November 2022, Florida had created more job for the 30th consecutive month in a row. In Pinellas County, the unemployment rate is currently sitting at just 2.4%, with an abundant source of jobs for folks moving to our area. Tampa Bay has one of the fastest growing job markets in the entire United States. City governments have joined together in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties to make it easier than ever for new companies to enter the state. Tampa and St Petersburg are currently experiencing a tech boom as we type this and many applicants are getting a good share of company perks to entice them to relocate to the sunshine state. Florida is also known as a healthcare giant, further making this a great place to find a great and sustainable job in the medical field as well.

  7. Tampa International Airport- One of the highest rated airports in the country, Tampa International Airport offers flights to just about anywhere you can think of. As a major business hub, Tampa Bay, FL has a huge demand for nonstop flights to many other large metro areas. It's also one of the airports we just generally love, thanks to a variety of dining options, lots of natural lighting, spacious seating and plenty of terminals to explore while you wait for your flight.  Tampa International Airport currently offers nonstop service to San Francisco, London, Amsterdam, Denver, and many other popular destinations. Other nonstop cities include Washington, DC, Seattle, New York, and Salt Lake City.

  8. Craft Beer Galore!- We are just as excited as you are about this one. Over the last decade or so, the cities of St Petersburg and Dunedin have both evolved into one of the major hubs in the South to get some amazing micro-brews. Check out this popular Champagne and caviar tasting room, Flute and Dram, located on beautiful Beach Drive in Downtown St Petersburg for that other bubbly beverage we all love. Spirits more your thing? Don't miss the St Pete Distillery for locally made rum, gin, and whiskey.Cycle Brewing St Pete

  9. Cuisine- One thing you won’t want to miss is our love of authentic Cuban Food and locally owned restaurants serving Greek, Japanese and Italian food to name a few. Some of our favorites include Mazzaros Italian Market and Grocery in St Petersburg,  The Columbia Restaurant in the Sand Key Part of Clearwater, and Noble Crust in NE St Petersburg. For sipping cocktails and nibbling small plates above the tree line with beautiful views of Downtown St Pete, The Canopy inside the Birchwood Boutique Hotel on Beach Drive is simply dreamy...

  10. Multiple Entertainment Venues and Theme Parks- Let’s be honest, we all need to unwind sometimes. Luckily, for residents of Tampa Bay, there are lots of concert venues in Tampa and St Petersburg. Jannus Live in St. Pete, the Amalie Arena, the Straz Center for the Performing Arts, and the newly restored Historic State Theater in St Pete (now named the Floridian Social Club) are just a few of the many popular stages for great live music, plays, and more. Looking for something to make your heart race? Don’t miss out on the many roller coasters of Busch Gardens to make your head spin, or the super-fast (and huge) water slides at the Adventure Island Waterpark next door.
