10 Great Reasons to Move to Tampa Bay Florida

  1. Low Taxes (AS IN NO STATE INCOME TAX!)- We listed this as our first item, because as a former resident of the San Francisco Bay Area and Washington, DC area, I personally know that state income taxes outside of the Sunshine State can be as high as 13.3%! In Florida, we currently do not have any state income taxes! (File that under 'Woo Hoo!')

  2. The Beaches- We all know what Florida is really known for- miles and miles of seemingly endless, white sandy beaches and turquoise water! In Tampa Bay, namely Pinellas County, you’ll find some of the highest rated beaches in the country. St. Pete Beach and Clearwater Beach have won numerous awards, and are both great swimming beaches, full of great eateries and local outdoor activities.

  3. Sports Galore- Tampa Bay is home to some of the greatest sports teams in the country. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Football), Tampa Bay Lightning (Hockey- Seriously, Hockey Games are REALLY FUN here), and the Tampa Bay Rays (Baseball) are just a few of the major league teams in the area to keep you busy. The City of St Petersburg also hosts its very own Grand Prix races annually as well. And don’t forget our award-winning and abundant selection of Golf Courses and posh Country Clubs. Additionally, thanks to our great weather, it’s not uncommon for St. Petersburg, the Gulf Beaches, Clearwater, and other surrounding areas of Tampa Bay to host multiple outdoor events each year including (but not limited to) various marathons, triathlons, and bike races. Take your pick! Yes, We Have The Lightning!

  4. Tropical Weather (It's Pretty Much Year Round)- Many locals of the Tampa Bay, FL area will tell you that one of the best parts of picking up and moving to Tampa Bay, FL was escaping any chance of snow, sleet or extreme cold weather! So take your ice scrapers and toss em’ before you get here. The only thing we have that’s 2 feet deep in this town is the white, powdery sand! Last year, we had 244 days of sun in our state!

  5. Waterfront homes- waterfront homes are still one of the ultimate perks of living in Tampa Bay. In Pinellas County, we are known for fabulous waterfront homes for sale. Want to step up the luxury home game? Then a Gulf Front home, directly on the white sandy beach, is the true definition of luxury living here. Let's be real, it’s rare that we ever get a client that tells us they wouldn’t enjoy being just steps from the sand or premium boating water.Search Waterfront Homes Now

  6. Jobs- As of 2016, Tampa Bay was the 4th fastest growing job market in the entire United States! City governments have joined together in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties to make it easier than ever for new companies to enter the state- Tampa and St Petersburg are currently experiencing a tech boom as I type this. Florida is also known as a healthcare giant, further making this a great place to find a great job!

  7. Tampa International Airport- One of the highest rated airports in the country, offering flights to just about anywhere you can think of. As a major business hub, Tampa Bay, FL has a huge demand for nonstop flights to many other large metro areas. As of Feb 2017, TIA began offering nonstop service to San Francisco, in addition to the nonstop service it already offered to popular business destinations. Those other nonstop cities include Washington, DC, Seattle, New York, Salt Lake City and even Cuba (Did we mention how close we are to Cuba? Feel free to check out how affordable non-stop flights are to Cuba from Tampa on Southwest.com) .

  8. Craft Beer Galore!- We are just as excited as you are about this one. Over the last decade or so, St Petersburg has evolved into one of the major hubs in the South to get some amazing micro-brews. Click HERE to see a blog that will point you to ‘The 15 Best Places for a Craft Beer in St Petersburg.’ Beer not your thing? Check out this new Champagne and caviar tasting room, Flute and Dram, that just opened in 2018 in St Petersburg on prestigious Beach Drive. Cycle Brewing St Pete

  9. Cuisine- One thing you won’t want to miss is top of the line Cuban Food and locally owned restaurants serving Greek, Japanese and Italian food to name a few. Plus there are many other fusion-style menus. Some of our favorites around St Petersburg include Mazzaros Italian Market and Grocery, Locale Market and Farm Table Kitchen, and Noble Crust. For sipping cocktails and nibbling small plates above the tree line, The Canopy on Beach Drive is simply dreamy in the evenings.

  10. Multiple Entertainment Venues and Theme Parks- Let’s be honest, we all need to unwind sometimes. Luckily, for residents of Tampa Bay, there are lots of concert venues in Tampa and St Petersburg. Jannus Live in St. Pete, the Amalie Arena, and the Straz Center for the Performing Arts are just a few of the many popular stages for great music, plays and more. Looking for something to make your heart race? Don’t miss out on the many roller coasters of Busch Gardens to make your head spin, or the super-fast (and huge) water slides at the Adventure Island Waterpark next door.
